Dear Fellow Members,
At the very beginning, I would like to thank you for honouring me with the position of the 17th Chairman of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Abu Dhabi Chapter at the 37th Annual General Meeting. This is indeed a proud moment for me; nevertheless, I am cognizant of my responsibilities and I look forward to taking our Chapter’s vision closer to its destination.
As a part of the committee, I have witnessed the exponential growth of the Chapter, which has been possible because of its members, who have constantly worked to accomplish its goals. It has been an exciting journey, punctuated with numerous opportunities to learn and grow, and become not just a better professional, but also a better individual. I couldn’t have done it without the support, guidance and comradeship of each and every member of the Chapter, and particularly of our past chairman, executive committee, leaders, sub-committee members, sponsors and partners. I appreciate the confidence you have shown in me, and request your continued support as I take on this new role.
I am passionate about my association with the Chapter. The vision of the Chapter is my own vision:
To fulfil functions and obligations towards its members residing in Abu Dhabi, while ensuring that members are continuously upgrading their professional education with relation to the newest regulations, technological advancements and accounting standards.
In the wake of the historic CEPA, my team and I hope to explore the possibilities the pact will bring to the Emirates and India as well as spread awareness to make the best of it. Our efforts will be to encourage start-ups and organise events where CA members can guide the Abu Dhabi business community in utilising new business opportunities. In addition, we will be promoting initiatives by the Indian government such as Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
I request all of you to join me and put in your best efforts to meet these various goals in 2022.
There are other Chapter objectives, which will find significance in my team’s list of priorities; such as providing networking opportunities for members; encouraging Chartered Accountancy as a solid career path for students, executing programs related to Corporate Social Responsibility, initiating purposeful interaction with the UAE authorities for CA degree equalization and Golden Visas for Chapter members and continuing the fight against the global pandemic with targeted endeavours.
It is going to be a busy year ahead for us, and I wish for you to be as driven about the Chapter and its work as I am. Please join me in taking the Chapter to newer heights for the benefit of its members and the community.
Before I conclude, I want to thank our members, Indian Embassy, sponsors, partners, past chairmen and the committee for being our pillars of strength over the years, and request continued support as I step into the role of the Chairman.
To my Chapter members – my doors will always be open for fresh ideas and discussions, brainstorming sessions or even a good laugh, if that means we can all be one big family.
I look forward to a valuable and memorable tenure.
Thank you and best regards,
CA John George
